Welcome to the home page of Pontefract Heritage Group.
We are a voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting awareness of and interest in the heritage of Pontefract. Our members come from all walks of life but we all share the same passion about Pontefract and its history. We organise events throughout the year from medieval re-enactments to our famous ghost walks.
Through this website we hope that you will discover more about us and our events and, hopefully, come to see and experience what we do. Please take time to look at our photo galleries (use the links above) which are frequently expanded
Membership
If you are passionate about Pontefract and its history and want to make a real difference then why not become a member of Pontefract Heritage Group? If you want to be directly involved then we can find a role to suit you from stewarding an event through to performing in tights and doublets. For some time now Pontefract Heritage Group has provided refreshments to visitors at Pontefract Castle. This service will soon be taken over by Wakefield Council. We thank visitors for their support and custom and especially wish to thank Brendan Lee for (often single handedly) delivering the service in all weathers.
